John Kennedy has set the record straight with his best team comment that has caused so much upset around Ibrox.
Borna Barasic and Steven Gerrard weren’t impressed when a version of the comment was put to them this morning with Mark Hateley and other failed managers criticising the Interim Celtic boss.
Kennedy made the comment to Sunday newspapers as they looked ahead to this weekend’s Scottish Cup tie with Celtic looking to win the trophy for the fifth year running.
It is a feeling that every manager in the country has before every game, especially when it comes to cup ties. Forfar and Montrose are two divisions below their Scottish Cup opponents but over the weekend there is nothing to stop them from knocking Dundee United and Kilmarnock out of the Scottish Cup.

It’s careless, people take part of a comment and go and make a story out of it, taking the comment out of context.
I was asked about us going into a cup game and on our day we can still be the best performing team in the country because we’ve got that level in us. That’s purely what it is, several times in the last few weeks I’ve commented on Rangers thoroughly deserving to win the league because they’ve been the most consistent, they’ve racked up most points, most consistent performances.
I’ve shown full respect to Rangers for what they’ve done. I’m entitled to say, on any given day, especially going into a cup tie against Rangers, I fancy us to be on our day to come out on top.
Celtic have won 12 of the last 14 domestic competitions, picking up their last trophy in December when they beat Hearts in the final of the 2020 Scottish Cup.
