There weren’t many Celtic fans sharing Kris Commons’ negativity about the prospect of Eddie Howe becoming Neil Lennon’s successor.
While most fans welcomed the show of ambition it seems that the former Celtic winger has suddenly developed an interest in Financial Fair Play.
It seems that leading a team to promotion from the Championship against clubs with parachute payments isn’t good enough for Commons. Or lasting five seasons in what is known as the best league in the world.
Commons also makes unfavourable comparisons with Brendan Rodgers who ensured that the former Derby and Notts Forest man never kicked another ball for Celtic.
Candidates like Rodgers come around once in a generation, Howe has far stronger credentials than anyone other than Rafa Benitez that has been linked with the vacancy.
If Howe is given the job he’ll be in no doubt about the magnitude of the task that he is facing, every area of the squad is in need of strengthening with a major summer exodus expected.
Commons has his doubts but if Howe is announced this week it is likely to be treated as the best news that Celtic fans have heard all season.
Eddie Howe is not the Celtic Messiah as Kris Commons fears Bournemouth hype is all a ‘myth’https://t.co/uI4jXkgekp pic.twitter.com/fFjucgb7dG

Celtic could hire Guardiola as manager and Klopp as assistant and Kris Commons would call it a risky appointment.

Wonder if it’s just because he’d expect him to train properly & be an athlete just like Deila did? pic.twitter.com/ysDMrZt6JB

Other than BR at Liverpool, what manager has come to either Glasgow side with an experience of managing clubs with those expectations? None is the answer, it is new to them all. If they have anything about them they embrace it and use it to drive them or they wilt. Time will tell

Prefer to take opinions from people who didn’t deliberately undermine their own manager when playing for celtic

Has many managers had experience of managing in Glasgow that have never managed there before?
I’ve read a few people post the same thing. No-one has?????
