Jesse Marsch looks to be out of Celtic’s range with the RB Salzburg linked with the manager’s job at Leipzig and Spurs.

Last month the American took the unusual step of being interviewed by Radio Scotland just as Celtic were getting the process of appointing a new manager underway. During the interview Marsch spoke of how he started his career in Europe with a UEFA coaching course hosted at Lennoxtown.

Not many American coaches have progressed in Europe but after leaving New York RB to become assistant at RB Leipzig, Marsch has enjoyed two successful seasons in charge of RB Salzburg.

Celtic are still without a manager but as respected Spanish publisher AS reports Marsch looks destined for one of the major leagues before the start of next season:

Now the Leipzig bosses are looking for a new manager to replace Nagelsmann next season and Jesse Marsch is set to fill the vacancy. The American is at the top of the list to arrive at Red Bull Arena and the other option for the bosses is current AFC Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, but he doesn’t speak fluent German.

Leipzig will have to make a decision quickly, because according to UK tabloid the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the American coach that started his career in Major League Soccer. Marsch has impressed several clubs in Europe for his work in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg.

Eddie Howe seems to be the strong favourite for the Celtic job but nothing seems to have progressed since a report of face-to-face talks with Dermot Desmond and Dom McKay on April 1.
