Patryk Klimala is reported to be on the verge of a permanent move to New York RB after just over a year at Celtic.

It seems that a fee has been agreed with the MLS side with just terms to be agreed with the striker to end his time in Glasgow.

Klimala has generally looked ill-equipped to play for Celtic but if he has caught the eye of the RB scouting network there must be impressive aspects to his game.

Celtic paid £3.5m for the striker last January but his arrival seemed to spark Leigh Griffiths into life with the Scotland man enjoying his best scoring run of the last three years.

In August Celtic spent close to £5m on Albian Ajeti with Klimala slipping down the pecking order, when Odsonne Edouard missed the Ferencvaros Champions League qualifier Neil Lennon opted to go with Ryan Christie in attack.

Tonight, the Daily Record reports:

Misfiring Celtic striker Patryk Klimala is on the verge of joining NY Red Bulls. The £3.5 million Polish frontman is close to securing his switch out of Scotland after the MLS outfit lodged a lucrative bid to the Hoops hierarchy for a permanent transfer.

Record Sport understands Celtic could even recoup the fee they paid out to Jagiellonia Bialystok 15 months ago with the hitman having three years still remaining on his current contract in Glasgow.

The 22-year-old scored just three goals in 28 appearances after making the move to Parkhead. With changes at the club coming in the summer including the likely arrival of a new manager, Klimala now has the opportunity to kickstart his career in the United States.

This season Klimala has started just four matches with a further 20 appearances coming off the bench. Cameron Harper left Celtic for New York RB last month with Head of Football Operations Nicky Hammond recently resigning.
