Chris Sutton’s 10 Minute Derby Test

Chris Sutton believes that you’ll be able to tell after 10 minutes whether Odsonne Edouard fancies it in tomorrow’s Glasgow Derby.

The Frenchman is out in front as Celtic’s top scorer but like all of his team-mates has been short of the storming form of previous seasons.

Once again Edouard has been left to carry the striking torch virtually on his own with Leigh Griffiths, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala failing to make any worthwhile impact on the season.

Celtic have only scored once in the three Derby fixtures this season with at least one goal needed tomorrow to keep alive hopes of finishing the season with a trophy.

If Celtic are to progress into the quarter-finals they will lean heavily on Edouard with Sutton telling Daily Record readers that they’ll know pretty soon whether the Frenchman is on his A-Game.

Edouard owes the Celtic supporters tomorrow. Fair enough, he was brilliant for the two previous seasons – but he’s been nowhere near it in this one.

Everyone’s seen it. Whether his head was turned for a spell or whatever, he’s been off the pace for long periods and its cost Celtic dearly. If he feels like it, he can terrorise the Rangers backline. You’ll know inside 10 minutes if he fancies it.

And Ajer also needs to really step up and be a leader. The Norwegian has many qualities. You can see he cares and is good with the ball at his feet. Sadly, that’s not enough. Not when games are decided on fine margins. I want my centre-backs to be able to head the ball. Deal with danger, go and be dominant and defend like a man.

James Forrest is Celtic’s only injury doubt with the winger getting until the last minute to prove his fitness.
