Chris Jullien is stepping up his rehab from knee surgery and is now able to run.

The defender collided with a goal-post in the final match of 2020, after an initial diagnosis of a three or four month absence that was revised to a September or October return date.

After an impressive first season following his move from Toulouse the season just finishing was one to forget for the defender.

A back injury picked up at the start of December saw him miss a crucial part of the season, when he returned he managed eight appearances before the ill-fated match against Dundee United brought his season to a halt.

Why Jullien went with Celtic on their ill-fated trip to Dubai will remain one of the mysteries of this season but with Kris Ajer likely to be sold this summer the return of the Frenchman is badly needed for the Celtic defence.

As it stands Stephen Welsh and Nir Bitton are the only central defenders ready to report for pre-season training with that area one of the priorities for the in-coming management team.
