Departed Celt recalls his most poignant moment

Two years ago today Celtic Park remembered and celebrated the life of Billy McNeill who had died five days earlier. Jozo Simunovic has more reason than most to recall the day.

It was a stale performance from the home side but a sense of occasion is never far away from the club, in the 67th minute the man wearing number five headed home the only goal of the game.

Instantly everyone watching appreciated the significance of the goal, the scorer certainly did as he called it today on Twitter.

Celtic clinched 8-in-a-row the following week when they won 3-0 away to Aberdeen with Simunovic again among the scorers.

At the end of last season Celtic opted out of taking up the 12 month option on his contract, since then the 26-year-old has been linked with a few clubs without being able to nail down a new contract.
