No Scottish referees will be involved in the European Championships this summer with UEFA announcing a list of 20 whistlers for the tournament.

Mike Olivier and Anthony Taylor from England will pick up lucrative match fees and generous expenses for over a month while Bobby Madden cycles around Glasgow with Willie Collum, John Beaton and Kevin Clancy watching the action from their living rooms.

UEFA have selected referees from Sweden, Israel, Romania and Slovenia to take charge of matches which shows their regard from the men delivering honest mistakes on a weekly basis across Scotland. Teams of officials get appointed with two assistants and additional assistants working together across all fixtures.

Madden and Collum have taken charge of Champions League matches this season but that is believed to be down to lobbying from Hugh Dallas.

Back in February Madden took charge of Panathinaikos against Olympiakos in Athens but unfortunately his assistant David Roome returned to East Kilbride and tested positive for the virus.

Madden decided to defy the law on Social Distancing but a last minute intervention by The Sun saw him removed from the Ross County v Celtic match that he was driving towards for another match fee.

Being forced into self-isolation denied Madden a Europa League appointment with Roma and now he’ll miss out on thousands of pounds this summer as he takes to his bike!
