Dom McKay has borrowed and amended one of Jock Stein’s most famous quotes as he signs off at the Scottish Rugby Union before moving to Celtic.

It seems that Peter Lawwell’s successor certainly knows the history of the club, a history that is largely shaped by the achievements of Scotland’s greatest ever manager.

From 1965 to 1978 Stein rewrote the history books, leaving a legacy that every Celtic player, manager and even CEO has to aspire to. Born and brought up in Burnbank he never lost touch with his roots and that:

McKay starts work at Celtic on April 19 with Peter Lawwell finally moving out on July 1.

Almost every area of the club is in need of a rebuild but without connecting again with supporters other areas become pointless.

Getting the fans all-in after a season of disenchantment is a massive challenge but it seems that McKay knows that the grandest plans are useless if he doesn’t have the trust and backing of the support.
