Eddie Howe is putting together the backroom staff that he wants to work with at Celtic according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Stephen McGowan is widely regarded as the reporter closest to the thinking of the Celtic hierarchy, today’s report would suggest that most aspects of a deal for Howe are in place with just the fine detail to be resolved.

It does however highlight that Richard Hughes, Howe’s preferred recruitment specialist, wants to be based at home in the Bournemouth area which could be a deal breaker. Daily face-to-face contact would be needed if the duo were to enjoy a similar relationship to the one that brought success to Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe is piecing together the backroom team he wants to join him at Celtic.

The former Bournemouth manager is close to finalising an agreement to replace Neil Lennon as Parkhead boss. And talks are already underway with the staff he wants to work by his side in Glasgow.

A move for Bournemouth technical director Richard Hugh hangs in the balance however. Howe wants the former Scotland midfielder and Celtic fan to head up player recruitment at Lennoxtown.

Hughes is currently overseeing a Premier League promotion push and wants to spend much of his working week based at his south coast family home.

It is now more than two months since Neil Lennon resigned as manager with less than 100 days to go until Celtic play their opening match of next season in a Champions League qualifier.

A massive rebuild of the Celtic squad is required, over the last week it has been revealed that Ryan Christie will be out of contract in January 2022 with reports of interest in signing Kris Ajer and Vasilis Barkas.

Four loan players will leave the first team squad with Scott Brown already committed to joining Aberdeen. Last night a report surfaced that Spurs are monitoring Ismaila Soro.
