Joe Ledley gears that Celtic are going to miss out on Eddie Howe to the ‘bright lights’ of the EPL.

The former Bournemouth boss has been strongly linked with the vacancy at Celtic but after his agent contacted Sky Sports expectations have fallen back dramatically.

It is now seven weeks since Neil Lennon resigned with no obvious signs that progress has been made towards securing a replacement other than vague media reports.

Ledley was signed by Lennon in the summer of 2010 from Cardiff City then left for Crystal Palace after three and a half successful years in Glasgow.

From a personal point of view Ledley would pick Celtic over the London side but with all but 18 months of his career spent on the south coast the Welsh internationalist thinks that Howe is likely to stay put and wait for an opening in the EPL.

Asked whether managing Celtic would be a better job for Howe than Crystal Palace Ledley (21 minutes) said:

I personally don’t think so, I think that Celtic would be a lot better for him but I think that with the forces down south Celtic don’t get enough credit, people don’t realise how big they are. When you go there, for me it is the greatest club that I’ve ever played for and one of the biggest clubs in the UK.

I’d like to see Eddie Howe at Celtic, I think that he is a good manager, I think that he plays football the right way. He’s hungry, he wants to win stuff, you could see that with what he did at Bournemouth but I think that with manager’s they want to be in the Premier League and show people what they can do at the highest level.

Its going to be an interesting one, I think it should have been done earlier if they were going to agree it but it doesn’t look good at the moment. I think that Eddie will be looking at Premier League.
