Daily newspapers have been emailed in-house interviews with Gary McAllister and Scott Wright to preview tomorrow’s visit to St Johnstone of Steven Gerrard’s side.

Every other club in the SPFL Premiership sends out a Zoom invite for newspaper reporters to submit their own questions but the Ibrox club are upset at the hostile coverage they’ve been getting from traditional outlets.

Under their new PR regime there has been a real crackdown on media coverage by the club with disputes involving almost all newspaper groups.

Whether newspapers decide to use the in-house interviews remains to be seen, if they do it justifies the move by the club and sets a precedent where they can’t even ask players how wonderful they feel Mister Gerrard is.

One leading ‘influencer’ explained the details to the Follow Follow message-board:

There’s no ban. Normal press conference on Zoom for broadcasters.

Printed press got exclusive interviews with Gary Mac and Scott Wright emailed to them.

They’ve been attending them on Zoom all season. I’ve been in the vast majority of them. At none of them has anyone come up with a startling or profound question.

There was a zoom press conference for broadcasters and pre-recorded interviews with Gary McAllister and Scott Wright for the dailies.

Should any newspapers decide to dissent there is no shortage of areas that they could cover such as an incredible 34 match run without having a player sent off or penalty conceded. Euan Anderson will be on duty at tomorrow’s match.

The delayed decision on the SFA to punish the Valentine’s Day Covidiots, the delayed appeal and the favourable testing results from a lab in Belfast might make for more interesting reading than the thoughts of McAllister and Wright.
