Chris Sutton believes that Odsonne Edouard owes Celtic one more big match performance.

The Frenchman will almost certainly be playing his football elsewhere next season after four goal-laden seasons in Glasgow.

In March 2018 he really announced his arrival with a brilliant match winner at Ibrox, soon afterwards he scored twice as Celtic won the derby 5-0 to make it 7 titles in a row.

Edouard is again Celtic’s leading scorer this term but there won’t be a farewell title medal with much of their season hanging on how they fare at Ibrox on Sunday.

A win keeps the season alive and makes Celtic favourites to win the Scottish Cup for the fifth season running but a defeat leaves the hoops with four dead rubbers to end the campaign.

Sutton has watched Edouard closely throughout his time at Celtic and is hoping that there is at least one more game changing performance in the Frenchman.

He told the Record Celtic Podcast: 15 minutes 20 seconds

I think that Celtic are due a performance from Edouard. I think that he has improved as the season has gone on but we haven’t really seen an enormous, explosive performance in a big game and I think that he owes that to Celtic.

If this is going to be his last season at Celtic then he wants to bow out on a high, win the game, do something extraordinary which we know that he is capable of.

This season he has just seemed off the pace. He hasn’t seemed at his best, I don’t know why that is, whether his head has been turned but he certainly owes it to the Celtic support and to the manager to put in a big performance.

So far Edouard has scored 83 goals for Celtic.
