Eddie Howe is reported to have sounded out Brendan Rodgers about the prospect of becoming Celtic manager.
It would be something of a shock if the former Bournemouth boss didn’t contact the Irishman who abruptly quit Celtic in February 2019.
In April 2017 Rodgers signed a four year deal to replace his initial 12 month rolling contract but by the summer of 2018 and the failure to sign John McGinn some fault lines developed in his relationship with the club.
Howe apparently met up with Dermot Desmond and Dom McKay two weeks ago but after a lifetime in English football the unique demands of Celtic will be something of a culture shock.

According to the Daily Mirror, Howe has approached friend and mentor Brendan Rodgers over whether he should travel north of the border this summer.
Leicester boss Rodgers would have been sure to have given a glowing insight into what Celtic did for his career – turning them into Invincibles within his first season.
Howe is also likely to be on Crystal Palace’s shortlist if Roy Hodgson goes this summer, along with Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche.
Howe has previously touched upon his relationship with Rodgers – insisting he is “forever grateful” for helping him in his early management days.
Their paths crossed in the English Championship when Howe was briefly in charge of Burnley and Rodgers won promotion with Swansea.

The ‘glowing insight’ is likely to come with a few warnings bearing in mind that Rodgers did a mid-season bunk to Leicester City less than halfway through his contract.
Without doubt a move to Celtic could have a very positive impact on Howe’s career but a ‘warts and all’ report will no doubt highlight a few issues that an incoming manager should be well aware of.
