Five days after Zander Clark broke his heart, Kris Boyd has spoken out about his Scottish Cup nightmare.

The Sky Sports pundit has been grinning almost all season but the chance to watch his heroes finish the season with a trophy lift at Hampden has been denied.

Boyd usually makes daily media appearances to discuss anything that pays a cheque but since Clark and his team-mates showed how to save and score in a penalty shoot out he has kept a low profile.

Four years running Boyd has grudgingly sat through Celtic winning titles, trophies and trebles.

As he has discovered as he told The Sun, trebles aren’t for everyone:

Let’s get it right, Rangers did magnificently to win the title. They have been the best team in the country by a mile and no one can knock them.

But the cup exits to St Mirren and St Johnstone were reminders that there is still room for improvement. The truth is, there always is. That’s what it’s like at a club like Rangers. Winning the league doesn’t mean anyone is safe.

No one in that changing room can afford to relax. No chance. Gerrard won’t have that mentality because he’s striving to be the best manager he can possibly be. He won’t be satisfied with one title and neither he should.

Boyd will be part of Sky Sports’ coverage from Ibrox on Sunday.
