The club from Ibrox are set to take on UEFA over the bans handed out to Kemar Roofe and Glen Kamara.

With the Five Way Agreement of 2012 not applying to UEFA matches the Ibrox club have found themselves getting dealt with in the same way as other competing clubs in the Europa League.

Roofe picked up a four match ban for sinking his studs into the skull of Slavia Prague goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar after being instantly red carded.

Slavia won the match 2-0 with Leon Balogun also sent off as the home side finished the match with nine players.

In the tunnel area after the match Glen Kamara assaulted Ondrej Kudela with a three match ban added to the one match suspension he clocked up after being yellow carded during playing time.

Reacting to the novelty of having players punished the Ibrox club stated:

Rangers notes the Uefa disciplinary decision relating to our fixture v Slavia Prague at Ibrox on 18th March. We welcome the suspension imposed on Ondrej Kudela.

This not only vindicates Glen Kamara’s evidence but underlines the severity of the comment, given the maximum number of games has been imposed by UEFA. Nevertheless, we believe the sanctions imposed on our two players (Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe) are severe.

We have written to Uefa, seeking clarification in writing on the basis that we intend to appeal the suspensions on both of players. We will make no further comment on this matter.

UEFA has the power to increase suspensions.

Twice in 2019 parts of Ibrox were closed by UEFA as punishment for racist actions by supporters.
