John Kennedy has revealed that he has been in regular contract with Dermot Desmond since stepping in as Celtic’s Interim Manager.

It is almost two months since Neil Lennon resigned with Desmond, Celtic’s largest individual shareholder apparently heading up the process of recruiting a successor.

Roy Keane and Eddie Howe have been strongly linked with the job but in the background Kennedy is unbeaten in six matches in charge. A victory in match number seven will make the argument for him getting the job on a permanent basis much more substantial.

The Scotsman reports:

Kennedy revealed he has kept in regular touch with majority shareholder Dermot Desmond since taking over from Lennon. “I have spoken to him quite a few times, not this week,” he said. “I spoke quite a lot to Peter as well. Most of the time it is general catch-up calls, how are things going and nothing beyond that. It is just general stuff, how are the players, how is the squad and the mood in the camp. I leave the business stuff to them.”

Kennedy has worked at first team level under Ronny Deila, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon after being promoted from working with the youth and Development Squads.

Today’s match is just his second away from home since taking charge, the other was a 0-0 draw away to Dundee United at Tannadice. James Forrest is the main injury doubt with the winger nursed through training this week after being substituted in the 58th minute of the 6-0 win over Livingston.
