John Kennedy wants Celtic to rediscover their cutting edge at Ibrox.

The Scottish Cup represents the last chance to lift a trophy and just as importantly the opportunity to deny Steven Gerrard’s side the chance to double up on their title win.

After the embarrassment of failing to get a shot on target in the October Derby match Celtic forced Allan McGregor into action at Ibrox and should have won by a goal or two when the two clubs met in March.

Moi Elyounoussi scored with a brilliant header but there was still a lack of sharpness around goal that prevented the hoops from taking full points.

The March clash was effectively a dead rubber with Celtic conceding the title the previous week, the trip to Ibrox will have plenty at stake with Kennedy hoping his side can show the same determination around goal as they did to hammer Livingston.

The Interim boss told the Daily Record:

I think the last game and the 60 minutes at Ibrox we showed that. From my point of view in terms of our level of performance, how we can play and create, there were a lot of positives.

We just have to be much more clinical at the top end and not be switching off at set-pay moments. That’s been the outcome of the games recently. We will be fully focused on that and we will try to build our performances.

Our level of performance against Rangers was good, I thought it sent a message that the gulf is not as big as everybody thinks it is. But ultimately it does come down to results so we want to take that one step further.

The Ibrox clash is scheduled for 4pm on Saturday but is almost certain to be shifted to lunchtime or Sunday.
