Reports in Italy claim that Diego Laxalt is being touted as an £8m sweetener to Celtic in AC Milan’s bid to sign Odsonne Edouard.

That fee seems incredibly ambitious for the Uruguayan who has made less than 30 appearances for Milan since joining them from Genoa in 2018 following an impressive World Cup in Russia.

Laxalt has been sent out on loan to Celtic and Torino with the loan fee appearing to be based on the £16m transfer fee that Milan paid in 2018.

The Sun reports:

Reports in Italy quoted Milan sources as saying a deal including Laxalt and ‘an economic adjustment in favour of Celtic’ was being readied to lure Edouard.

But Milan value the 28-year-old Uruguayan left-back, who moved to Celtic Park on loan in October, at around £8m. That would vastly reduce the fee the Serie A outfit would offer.

And with Greg Taylor starting ahead of Laxalt, it’s unlikely the Hoops would be willing to write off that much in any deal.

With Paris Saint Germain due a slice of the fee that Celtic pick up for Edouard it might appeal to Celtic to accept a player plus cash deal.

Taking on an £8m rated left-back with wages in line with Serie A would seem very unlikely business for Celtic to complete with no real evidence that he is any better than Greg Taylor.

A massive turnover of players is expected at Celtic, although highly unlikely to play against Boli Bolingoli will return from his loan spell in Turkey with two years still to run on his contract.
