It was way too good an opportunity for Chris Sutton to pass up. With his eye for goal it was the equivalent of the ball rolling along the six yard line with the goalkeeper stranded.
Cove Rangers v Celtic was way too good for Sutton to let go even if the prospect is only alive for a couple of hours.
As the Scottish Cup draw was made today the two Glasgow sides were slow out the blocks but once the winner of tonight’s match at Ibrox came out Celtic followed straight after.
They might as well have called a halt to the draw there and then, the ties that followed meant very little. Cove’s support role at Ibrox tonight has been diminished further with a Glasgow derby on the cards in two weeks time.
Steven Gerrard will be in the home dug out but he might face his third Celtic manager of the season with the prize much bigger than a last eight tie against St Johnstone or Clyde.
Sutton will milk it for the next fortnight at least, the media frenzy will be incredible, unless Paul Hartley’s side pull off the biggest result of their history to host Celtic in two weeks time.

If Cove Rangers are going to win the cup then they’ll have to do it the hard way.
