Five minutes on the park and Moi Elyounoussi made his mark.

Taming a pass from Jonjoe Kenny on his left foot a deft touch with his right lifted the ball over Robbie Mutch and Celtic were 3-0 in front. The beaty was in the simplicity.

Throughout the first half Celtic had pounded the Falkirk goal but there was a distinct lack of finesse in their finishing around goal. Shots went almost everywhere except on target from over 70% possession.

Early in the second half James Forrest and Ryan Christie found the net, the tie was over but it was the on-loan forward from Southampton that applied the classiest touches of the day.

In a few weeks’ time Elyounoussi will return to Southampton to an uncertain future. Since his big money move from Basel in 2018 he has spent more time with Celtic than on the south coast.

The next Celtic manager has a massive rebuilding task to embark on, whether Elyounoussi is part of his budget remains to be seen but in a season of few highlights more than a few have come from the Norwegian.
