For almost all of his time at Celtic Odsonne Edouard has been beyond criticism.

With the exception of two months from Leigh Griffiths last season the Frenchman has been Celtic’s sole striker for most of the last three seasons.

Three years ago at Ibrox he wrote himself into folklore, coming off the bench to steer home a brilliant winner as 10 men carved out a famous win.

Since then there has been other significant strikes alongside the 20 plus he can be guaranteed to deliver. Goals in Europe, in the Derby, in Cup Finals and semis.

Even this season he has scored in Prague, Milan and in a Hampden Cup Final but when Celtic were awarded a 79th minute penalty at Ibrox it was a moment of dread for many fans.

Edouard had been off it all day, just before the hour mark he flashed his heel at an open goal from eight yards out and it flew over.

When Allan McGregor saved his effort from four yards further back there was no real shock, surprise or anger from supporters.

There are four more instalments to suffer this season including another trip to Ibrox. After nine memorable years the finale has turned into a nightmare with the hero for many of those triumphs sadly turning into a villain today.
