The SFA have cleared the decks for the Ibrox Covidiots to face Celtic in the Scottish Cup by arranging their appeal for three days after the clash between the clubs.

In the early hours of February 14 Nathan Patterson and four team-mates, and five others, were given Fixed Penalties by Police Scotland for attending a house party.

Back in August the SFA moved sharply to punish Celtic and Boli Bolingoli after the defender didn’t self-isolate after a trip to Spain.

Within 48 hours of the story breaking two Celtic matches were postponed, 18 days afterwards the defender was suspended for three matches.

With Patterson the SFA seemed very reluctant to take any action. 18 days passed without a postponement, suspension or even a comment from Ian Maxwell and friends.

On March 21 Patterson came on as a substitute against Celtic in the Glasgow derby, on March 25 the SFA staged a hearing, on the 28th they announced four match suspensions for the five Ibrox Covidiots.

Two days before the first match of the suspension an appeal went in, followed quickly by the Scottish Cup draw taking Celtic to Ibrox on April 17.

To no-ones surprise the SFA have put the appeal date back to April 20 ensuring that Steven Gerrard will have a full squad to select from, except James Tavernier who has a sore leg.

If the appeal is rejected Young Patterson will have had two months playing time before suspension, within 18 days two Celtic matches were postponed with a player suspended.
