On the back of a flurry of speculation over the previous 36 hours the Eddie Howe archives are being thoroughly researched.

Almost every aspect of his career is being looked into as the media and Celtic fans try to put together a profile of the man that seems certain to succeed Neil Lennon in the dug-out.

Howe’s last five or six years are fairly well known, the rise of Bournemouth, achieving a stable side in the EPL followed by last season’s relegation which seemed to be the culmination of a number of factors before and after Lockdown.

As one of the highest rated English managers in the business it seems strange that he has been on the outside for eight months but an interview on Sky Sports provided an insight into his motivations.

I don’t want to get back in just for the sake of it, it would have to be something that really motivated me.

Should Celtic offer the manager's job to Eddie Howe

Howe will be well remunerated at Celtic but after a decade at Bournemouth he should be financially independent. He doesn’t need to grab at a survival plan from Newcastle or Crystal Palace.

For Celtic fans his arrival is more than a manager, it is a signal of intent. The club dabbled with ambition when they appointed Brendan Rodgers in 2016, they look like getting a second chance and have to build and sustain the standards and success that the former Bournemouth boss can provide.
