With 34 of the 38 SPFL Premiership matches played some interesting stats can be compared.

After 90% of the season there isn’t likely to be much change with penalties for and against telling quite a tale. There are no blips at this stage.

Despite being in second place and second top scorers in the SPFL Celtic are joint third in the table for penalties awarded- having the same amount of penalties as Aberdeen and St Mirren.

Aberdeen have scored a miserable 33 goals from 34 matches with seven penalties awarded including two against Celtic in October.

St Mirren have only managed 30 goals from 34 matches, fortunately for Jim Goodwin’s side they have had seven penalties.

Celtic have rattled in 72 goals from 34 games with the same seven penalties awarded as St Mirren and Aberdeen. The hoops have scored more goals than St Mirren and Aberdeen combined but have had half the amount of penalties that those two sides have enjoyed.

At the other end of the park Celtic are mid-table in terms of penalties conceded with five awarded against them. Ross County have conceded most with 13 from 34 matches, over at Ibrox Steven Gerrard’s side have yet to have a single penalty awarded against them.

The next best record is St Johnstone with three awarded against. Kilmarnock, St Mirren and Dundee United are in the bottom half of the SPFL but have had less penalties awarded against them than Celtic.
