Celtic fans have been sympathetic to Patryk Klimala on the back of news that he is close to a permanent transfer to New York RB.
The striker joined Celtic in January 2020 in a £3.5m deal from Polish side Jagiellonia but his arrival coincided with Leigh Griffiths suddenly finding form as Celtic took 28 points from 10 matches to storm to the title.
Klimala noticeably bulked up during Lockdown but in August he found Albian Ajeti added to the queue ahead of him for a place in the Celtic side.
Opportunities have been rare for the Pole but he did start the Glasgow Derby in October and was restored to favour for John Kennedy’s first match in charge at home to Aberdeen.
In truth none of the four strikers at Celtic have played to their potential this season even though Edouard has notched 21 goals. There are no guarantees about Ajeti or Griffiths being in the Celtic side next season.
The fact that Klimala has attracted the attention of New York RB suggests that there is something in his game worth working on but with so much upheaval expected at Celtic it looks like a transfer is convenient for all parties.

We’ve let that boy down. Effort levels that would shame most associated with this appalling season.
— James Cant (@DrJamesCant) April 13, 2021
The guy on the left let us down worse than anyone this season couldn’t even be bothered to get fit to busy eating kebabs and barely kicked a ball for four years…..but sure get rid of the developing youngster ?

Back the laddie. Given no chance, would rather see others leave before him.
Everyone knows striker’s at club who’s times up, he shouldn’t be one of them ?— Mark Moylan (@MoylanPredator) April 13, 2021
in fairness he puts in more effort then edouard ajeti and griffiths

They obviously haven’t seen his first touch ?
— Mr Hoops (@UpdatesCeltic) April 13, 2021
His first touch is still better than Griffith.
As much as I appreciate what Griffith has done for us over the years we need to move him on. Every time Griffith has played this season it should have been klimala or ajeti getting game time— michael hughes (@optimusmike777) April 13, 2021
Or another project that we failed….
— Craigie (@craigie69) April 13, 2021
Sure let’s get rid of the young Poland u21 international who only got to play with the worst Celtic team in 10 years who we’ve barely gave 5 starts to in a year while griff does next to nothing for about the fifth season ????

Hallelujah. Money for old rope with this one. Can’t believe any club is parting with cash for him!
