The evening before Lowland League clubs are due to vote on whether to accept a Celtic Colts team for next season the first sign of opposition has emerged.

Lowland League chairman George Fraser seems confident that the plan will be accepted by the 17 member clubs but the three feeder leagues to the Lowland League (South of Scotland, East of Scotland and West of Scotland have come together to voice their disapproval.

The SFA have worked hard to bring together the various different leagues into one system with the West of Scotland League comprising of ambitious Junior clubs that now have a ladder into the Senior Game.

In a hard hitting statement they claim that the Lowland League is accommodating a season long run of friendly matches then ask what happens for the 2022/23 season after the one season pilot.

If approved Celtic will enter an u-20 side to the competition that won’t be allowed to be promoted should they win the league. Kelty Hearts won this season’s title, after beating Brora Rangers they now face Brechin City for a place in next season’s League Two.
