Celtic will have a Colts team competing in next season’s Lowland League.

Full details have yet to emerge but the proposal was voted through tonight by the 17 Lowland League clubs.

Kelty Hearts look like replacing Brechin City in the SPFL, Brechin will move to the Highland League with two Glasgow clubs joining the Lowland League for one season only.

Having pushed for various options over the last 20 years or more the Lowland League season will be viewed as a Test Case to Get the Colt teams admitted at a higher level.

Tonight’s news means that Celtic will play at East Stirling and Berwick Rangers again next season plus against clubs like Caledonian Braves, BSC and Cumbernauld Colts.

It is likely that Celtic will play all of their games away from home with an u-20 squad named at the start of the season with no internal transfers allowed with the senior team in the SPFL Premiership.
