The morning after the lights went out on Scott Brown’s Celtic career work began on a pitch upgrade.

With just over two months to go before the first Champions League qualifier of the 21/22 season, time is tight to carry out the maintenance work on the most important part of the stadium- the pitch.

In the summer of 2018, it looked like Celtic had made a serious investment in the future with the installation of a hybrid pitch that would allow Brendan Rodgers’ side to play a high speed passing game.

When Celtic played Airdrie after the 2019 January break there were problems with the pitch. Although clearly still a good surface it hasn’t quite lived up to the early billing it was given along with the installation of the infamous Disco Lights.

The pitch maintenance ruled Celtic Park out of hosting the Scottish Cup Final, today the SFA announced that 600 fans will be able to attend the May 22 clash between Hibs and St Johnstone.
