David Turnbull has been voted Scotland’s Young Player of the Year by PFA Scotland.
The award from fellow professionals is the one that is truly rated within the game, earning the respect of your opponents rather than outsiders with a news agenda behind their voting.
After making just two substitute appearances last season Turnbull has picked up on the form that made him a stand out performer for Motherwell in the 2018/19 season before a medical put paid to a summer move to Celtic.

Turnbull’s move to Celtic went through in the gloom that followed the Champions League defeat from Ferencvaros, it is no great comment but he has clearly been the best addition to the Celtic squad despite other higher profile and more expensive arrivals.
It took until mid-December for Turnbull to start his second Celtic match, impressing and scoring in the Europa League tie at home to Lille.
