Stephen Welsh has spoken about the possibility of Eddie Howe becoming the next Celtic manager.

The hoops ended the season with John Kennedy still as Interim Manager- almost three months after Neil Lennon resigned.

At the start of April Howe was reported to have held face-to-face talks with Dermot Desmond and Dom McKay but the expected announcement remains elusive.

Fans have been built up for a variety of propose announcement dates but there has been very little concrete news emerging from inside the club.

Welsh has been a first pick in the side since the end of January, after the draw with Hibs on Saturday he told The Herald:

We’re all pretty calm about it. The club will deal with it the way they should. We’re positive about what the future holds regardless if it’s a new manager and coaches, whatever, we’ll be ready to work hard for them and do well.

I think it’s natural to think they will be watching if you have an idea a new face is coming in. You want to go out and prove how good you are, prove you should be in the team next season. That’s all you can do as a player.

Obviously, Eddie Howe was a fantastic manager for Bournemouth over the last few years. He fits the criteria. He plays good football from what I saw so it’s exciting more than anything.

Howe left Bournemouth by mutual consent last August after their five year stay in the EPL came to an end.
The 43-year-old has been linked with the potential vacancies at Newcastle and Crystal Palace and also to a lesser extent with Spurs.

After a season out of management if Howe doesn’t return to the game this summer he faces the danger of slipping out the spotlight as other names emerge as the ‘hot ticket’ in management.
