Watford are reported to be in talks with Hibs over a £4m deal for Josh Doig.

After being released by Hearts last summer the left-back has had an outstanding season across the city and recently picked up the Football Writers Young Player of the Year award.

Celtic are expected to undergo a massive turnover of players this summer with Sky Sports crediting them with an interest in Doig towards the end of the January Transfer Window.

Greg Taylor is the only first team full-back certain to be at Celtic next season but as The Sun reports it looks like Doig could already be halfway towards the newly promoted EPL side:

WATFORD are in talks with Hibs over a sensational £4million deal for player of the year Josh Doig. It’s understood the newly promoted English Premier League outfit are confident an agreement can be struck which would see Saturday’s Scottish Cup final being the left-back’s farewell to the Hibees.

Less than a fortnight ago Doig told the Daily Record:

Growing up, (Kieran) Tierney was one player I looked up to. I always liked to watch him in games. He was so young but always had this heart and desire.

That aggression he had about him was inspiring to me. I always remember my dad saying to me: ‘Keep an eye on him’.

Doig faces a tough job breaking into the Scotland side with Tierney and Andy Robertson in his position but a year after leaving relegated Hearts his career could hardly be in better shape.

In January Hibs turned down offers for Kevin Nisbet and Ryan Porteous but it looks like Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final against St Johnstone could be followed by the break up of the team.
