Three months after Neil Lennon resigned, Celtic fans are expecting the long running pursuit of a replacement to end in the week ahead.

Since the start of April when he was reported to have held talks with Dermot Desmond and Dom McKay almost all of the talk has centred on Eddie Howe with when he comes in rather than if being the question.

Various suggestions for the delay have been put forward with assembling his backroom staff and a possible Play Off bonus after mutually resigning being the main reasons.

Yesterday those obstacles were removed when Bournemouth’s interest in the EPL Play Offs was ended by Brentford with reality now kicking in on the south coast after five seasons in the top flight and one season of a parachute payment.

Norwich and Watford took advantage of their parachute payment to bounce straight back to the EPL but this morning serious budget issues begin at Bournemouth.

Some of the luxuries that accompany life in the EPL will have to go, if Howe has to fill his backroom staff this is the week to get that completed and kick-on an overdue overhaul at Celtic with a massive summer turnover of players needed for the challenges ahead.
