Davie Provan believes that Dermot Desmond already has a deal for Eddie Howe in the bag.

It is more than two months since Neil Lennon resigned with no obvious sign of activity towards securing a replacement.

At the start of April there was a report of a face-to-face meeting between Desmond and Eddie Howe but despite the expectation created there has been no follow up- or on the record comment from either party.

There are just two matches left in Celtic’s disastrous season with the club still to kick-off the vital programme of Season Ticket Renewals.

Picking up on his appearance on Go Radio, the Daily Record reports Provan saying:

I don’t think for a moment Dermot Desmond would have exposed himself to the possibility of being embarrassed by Eddie Howe. And Eddie Howe himself has chosen not to rule himself out.

So reading between the lines I think there’s an agreement, I think it’s a done deal. I’m pretty sure Celtic will be working away in the background to beef that squad up because it’s going to be a wholesale change of the type that we haven’t seen for a long, long time.

Desmond is credited with bringing Martin O’Neill, Gordon Strachan and Brendan Rodgers to Celtic with Lennon, Tony Mowbray and Ronny Deila brought in by Peter Lawwell.

Howe has been out of work since resigning as Bournemouth boss in August when they were relegated after five seasons in the EPL.
