Southampton are reported to be lining up a bid for Ryan Christie.

The midfielder goes into the shop window of the European Championships with just six months left to run on his Celtic contract and the perfect opportunity to impress.

Southampton has been the destination for Fraser Forster, Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk and Stuart Armstrong with Saints knowing that their deals with Celtic yield quality and value. The world record fee that they picked up for Van Dijk more than paid for the other transfers.

The Sun reports:

SOUTHAMPTON have targeted Celtic star Ryan Christie for a bargain move to the Premier League. Saints will watch the Hoops attacker at the Euros as they eye a cut-price deal.

Allowing Christie’s contract to enter its final 12 months seems to be a strange decision from the Celtic hierarchy who effectively lost out on £9m when Dedryck Boyata was in the same position two years ago.

Celtic paid Inverness Caley Thistle £500,000 for Christie in August 2015 with the Highland club likely to have a 10% sell on clause in the contract.

The midfielder went back to ICT on loan after signing but it took two loan spells at Aberdeen for his career to kick off with Christie’s Celtic career having an incredible turnaround after he came on as a substitute in the Betfred Cup Semi-Final win over Hearts at Murrayfield in October 2018.
