Good Luck With That- Sutton’s grim warning to Dom McKay

Chris Sutton believes that yesterday’s Ibrox defeat will have stripped away any delusions that Dom McKay might be harbouring.

The incoming CEO watched his third match from the stand as the team crumbled to defeat with barely any consolation to be taken from 93 minutes of misery.

At the end of the 90 minutes none of the 2017 Invincible squad was on the park with the drop in standards terrifying.

It was hard to make a case for anyone involved in yesterday’s fiasco although Stephen Welsh, Greg Taylor, Ismaila Soro, Callum McGregor and James Forrest should be around for the start of next season.

Who is added to that ‘squad’ and who signs them is the big dilemma facing McKay with just two matches left this season and fans getting edgy over the apparent ‘done deal’ to appoint Eddie Howe as manager.

Reflecting on the latest humiliation, Sutton told Daily Record readers:

By the end it was a stuffing and maybe it was a good thing. Perhaps it will just underline in bold pen just how far the club has fallen and just how much work is going to be needed to get them back to a standard again.

Dominic McKay was in the stands at Ibrox and he too must be taking a deep breath at the prospect of what’s in front of him.

He’s been drafted in to do sponsorship and media deals – and to flog season tickets. Good luck with that one. If he’s not got the manager and director of football lined up pronto then he’s got a job on his hands convincing fans to part with their money again.

Should Peter Lawwell leave with immediate effect?

Yes, utterly toxic, the rebuild starts when he leaves

He’ll be wondering if he should have stuck with the men with the odd shaped balls. The current Celtic side were not much good with the proper one either yesterday. It simply wasn’t good enough in a disastrous season.

Celtic will end their Social Media boycott at midnight tonight with a deluge of complaints likely from fans.

McKay’s appointment and Lawwell’s departure is about the only piece of good news this season with the workload of the new CEO appearing to lengthen by the week.
