Celtic fans weren’t impressed by the apology that the club provided as they began the process of renewing Season Tickets.

For more than three months the club has been looking for a manager, going further back to December it can be assumed that other options were considered when they announced a managerial review.

There really wasn’t any need to remind fans that the club currently doesn’t have a manager, it is the first talking point whenever supporters make contact with each other.

Perhaps more than 20,000 supporters will renew their Season Ticket unconditionally, whether Eddie Howe, Jack Ross or John Hughes is in charge of the team.

If Eddie Howe was coming in this week surely today’s announcement would have been delayed, extending the recruitment search into June doesn’t look like the workings of a club moving in the right direction.

Trust with the club however is at breaking point for many fans. The CEO might be moving on but Peter Lawwell is associated with the exit of Brendan Rodgers and the recruitment policy that led to Neil Lennon being reappointed in the showers at Hampden. The former Bolton boss is apparently looking to get back into management.

When results are good the focus is off the internal workings of a club, when results are poor every aspect is the subject of criticism.

Until a manager is in the door it is best that Celtic keep quiet on that issue. If the next manager is from the same bargain bucket that produced Lennon today’s responses will be mild compared to what awaits the next man in charge.
