Davie Provan remains on-board the Leigh Griffiths bus.

The striker divide’s opinion among Celtic fans with some adamant that he is the best striker at the club and should be a first pick for Scotland.

Others point to someone that hasn’t completed 90 minutes all season and snatched at more than decent chances when he was given a starting slot against Falkirk in the Scottish Cup.

Last week the deadline passed for Celtic to renew the striker’s contract on his current terms, in the summer he can leave as a free agent or Celtic can negotiate a new deal.

Looking back at last week’s defeat at Ibrox, in The Sun, Provan writes:

I’m still trying to figure out why Leigh Griffiths was on the Celtic team bus for last week’s Old Firm game.

Celtic are two down after 57 minutes, desperately need a goal and Griffiths has scored in Celts’ last game at Pittodrie. Yet John Kennedy puts on Ismaila Soro, Ryan Christie and Mikey Johnston ahead of Griffiths?

With Odsonne Edouard missing Celts’ Champions League qualifiers through Olympic duty, the Hoops will be well short of firepower unless they shell out major money. Binning Griff now makes no sense.

Celtic have just two more matches to play this season which could be against both Scottish Cup Finalists.

John Kennedy has almost run out of options in attack with Odsonne Edouard returning just two goals since Neil Lennon resigned at the end of February.
