Marian Shved was on the scoresheet yesterday as Mechelen beat Standard Liege 3-1.

The on loan Celtic winger came off the bench just before half time then scored to put his side 2-0 in front in the 57th minute with his fourth goal of the season for the Belgian side.

Shved has only managed to play 850 minutes this season over 21 appearances with the majority of them coming off the bench.

Mechelen have stated that they want to bring the 23-year-old back on loan next season but that will require a decision from the next Celtic manager.

Shved still has two years to run on his Celtic contract and although he has only made three substitute appearances since his January 2019 transfer from Karpaty Lviv the shortage of players at Celtic this summer will ensure that his situation is reviewed.

In December Mechelen boss Wouter Vrancken suggested that his on-loan winger would be better off spending his time playing billiards but since the turn of the year it seems that things have turned around.
