Radio Scotland sunk to new depths tonight by providing a platform for Maurice Ross to present himself as the victim of a racist witch-hunt.

The former Rangers (IL) defender was forced to resign from his job as Assistant Manager of Notts County after sickening racist comments about Enzio Boldewijn in front of his team-mates.

Trying to understand the winger’s lack of mobility Ross reasoned that Boldewijn must be one of those African players with fake passports.

It takes a very warped mindset to come to that conclusion but tonight the state broadcaster provided Ross with a full Counselling service from Kenny MacIntyre. It oozed of self pity as the 40 year-old presented himself as the victim of a huge misunderstanding that was really just ‘fitbaw banter’.

Kenny Mac likes to come over as the hard-hitting hack asking the questions that fans want to hear when he is confronting Jack Ross or Neil Lennon after an adverse result.

In the company of one of his Ibrox pin-ups you could sense him reaching out to give Ross a brotherly cuddle to protect him against the nasty ‘PC Brigade’.

Some of the excuses given by Ross were cringeworthy, mentioning a clumsy comment flippant remark.

After the interview Charlie Adam offered his sympathy to Ross, tomorrow Steven Naismith, Richard Foster and Chris Burke are expected to join Uncle Kenny to recall the good old days.

The team at Sportsound have been at the forefront of the battle against racism since 9.30pm on Thursday, March 18.
