The Great Tom Rogic mystery

Tom Rogic has been ruled out of Celtic’s final two matches of the season.

It isn’t the most startling news that the fans will hear this season but the decline of the Australian is just another of the recent mysteries at the club.

Rogic has hit some incredible heights at Celtic, especially between 2016 and 2018 but at the age of 28 it seems that his peak years will be confined to that period.

Tucked away in the Daily Record’s interview with John Kennedy discussing Vasilis Barkas for the match against St Johnstone they report:

And Kennedy – who will also be without Tom Rogic for the final two games – insists the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the keeper’s debut season must be taken into account.

The Australian last started against Livingston in the 6-0 win on April 10 but suffered a knock in the warm up to the Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox a week later and although listed as a substitute wasn’t available to play in the match. He did get the last half hour of the 1-1 draw at Aberdeen but was missing from the SPFL match at Ibrox 10 days ago.

Back in the autumn there was a hint that Rogic still had magic to offer. He made an impact at home to AC Milan in the Europa League, scored in the San Siro and had a big influence in the Scottish Cup semi and final.

If the next manager can revive the 28-year-old he might have the makings of a formidable midfield in James Forrest, Callum McGregor, Ismaila Soro, David Turnbull and of course, Rogic.
