Patrick Harvie has gone further than any other politician in his crushing condemnation of the thugs and louts that brought shame on Glasgow through their actions on Saturday.

Police Scotland have said that 15,000 descended on the city centre, every single one could be given Fixed Penalties for breaking the laws brought in by the Pandemic. Drinking alcohol in public is also an offence while numerous acts of violence were shared across Social Media.

To the surprise of many there has been an emphasis placed on the anti-Catholic motivations of the Covidiots. This time it hasn’t just been packaged up as Old Firm sectarianism.

Nicola Sturgeon appears to have used the phrase minority when it wasn’t needed, 15,000 is quite a large minority with no condemnation from any official Ibrox fans group. A couple of do-gooders have attempted to claim that decent, cuddly, nicey-nice ‘Rangers’ fans were appalled by the incidents.

Where were those fans on Friday before the carnage, last season they were happy to tap their toes inside Ibrox to the hate filled anti-Catholic anthems of their fellow bears.

The statement from Police Scotland about the sectarian videos and the emphasis on the anti-Catholic aspects of the Covidiots could be a game changer. It seems that those elected to Holyrood on May 6 aren’t prepared to put up with the morons that clog the summer streets with their culture and traditions of hate and intolerance.
