Alan Nixon has claimed that Roy Keane badly wants the Celtic job.

The transfer specialist has led with a couple of stories linking the Irishman with the Celtic vacancy but it seems that there has been little enthusiasm from the club.

Keane hasn’t taken charge of a club since leaving Ipswich in 2011 but was close to the Celtic job in 2014 before Ronny Deila was drafted in.

The Celtic board is under severe scrutiny as they enter into the fourth month of the search to replace Neil Lennon.

For the best part of two months Eddie Howe seemed to be on the brink of getting the job but on Friday that notion was laid to rest in a statement from the club.

Attention seems to have switched to Ange Postecoglou but the Australian would require a Work Permit with a question mark over whether he would be allowed to manage without having a UEFA Pro Coaching Licence.
