Luca Connell signed off his loan spell with Queens Park by scoring in their 3-2 defeat at Elgin last night.

The home side were leading 3-1 going into the closing stages when Connell took one touch to control a loose ball in the penalty box then swept a shot home from 15 yards out.

It was the third time in 11 appearances that the former Bolton midfielder had found the net, last night was his second appearance off the bench, coming on as a half time substitute.

6 minutes 40 seconds for the goal

Connell has only been at Queens Park since March 20 but he has shown more than enough to suggest that he may have a future at Celtic after two frustrating seasons under Neil Lennon.

The Irish internationalist was only 17 when he was pitched into a Bolton side heading for relegation from the Championship but he caught the eye with Celtic providing a four year contract.

Halfway through that deal Celtic’s next manager will have to decide if he will be a part of next season’s squad or if a season on loan at a Premiership side would accelerate his development.

Brody Paterson started his ninth League Two match last night, like Connell he has also made two substitute appearances.
