Jason Leitch has given the most upbeat announcement about football stadiums returning to full capacity next season.

A couple of attendances of 300 fans made it into matches during the regular season, 500 fans attended some Play Off matches but the Scottish Cup Final was played out in front of no fans in May as St Johnstone lifted the trophy.

Crowds of 12,500 fans have been allowed into Hampden for European Championship matches but with Celtic hosting Midtjylland in just over three weeks the spotlight is back on domestic fixtures.

Celtic completed their Season Ticket renewals campaign on Friday alongside a registration scheme to get fans into matches.

The next few weeks will go a long way to shaping the 2021/22 season with the National Clinical Director speaking positively on Radio Scotland.

Asked if football stadiums could be full, the Daily Record reported Leitch saying:

They can on August 10th, but we’ve had to learn that new word remember, that ‘indicative’ word. So we have given advice that says ‘with a fair wind, the trajectory we are presently on, with vaccinations’…..this six weeks buys us quite a lot of vaccine time.

So if we can get that in, and people come, that’s the important thing that people can do, then yes we hope that August 9th/10th can happen.

The last time that fans were inside Celtic Park was on 7 March 2020 when a Leigh Griffiths hat-trick helped Celtic to a 5-0 win over St Mirren. Celtic’s first domestic home match is on 7 August at home to Dundee in the SPFL.
