Marian Shved is wanted by Mechelen for another season.

While Jack Hendry’s form appears to have triggered Oostende into making his move permanent Mechelen’s interest in the winger seems a little cooler.

Shved appeared to be heading for an early return to Celtic before hitting some form at the turn of the year but only started nine matches. In addition he made 13 appearances as a substitute and scored four goals.

Summing up transfer activity at Mechelen, Belgian website GVA reports:

Last season, our compatriot at Olympiakos often had to be satisfied with substitutes, although he was allowed to start a few times in the Greek cup. In the end, Cuypers (new signing Hugo) stranded on two goals and as many assists in fourteen matches. Malinwa is still looking for a left-footed central defender and a defensive midfielder. In addition, it also wants to rent Ferdy Druijf and Marian Shved for one year longer.

Shved is one of the most mysterious Celtic signings of recent seasons, technically he was the final player bought by Brendan Rodgers although the then manager made it clear that he had little role in the transfer.

The winger was instantly sent back to Karpaty Lviv on loan with Rodgers joining Leicester City a month later.

During the 2019/20 season Shved made three brief substitute appearances, his Celtic contract runs until May 2023.
