Anthony Joseph moved sharply to clarify his Tweet about Fergal Harkin opting to stay with Manchester City rather than take up a Sporting Director role at Celtic.
Within an hour of his Tweet the Sky Sports News reporter added that a source close to Celtic contacted him to say that no offer was made to the man masterminding Manchester City’s programme of Loans and Partnerships.
Adding further intrigue to the tale Sky Sports News, but not Joseph, on Sunday reported on Celtic’s interest on Ange Postecoglou claimed with:

The news on Harkin completed another couple of baffling days for Celtic fans as the clock ticks towards the start of pre-season training two weeks tomorrow.

After the big build up on Friday the club announced that their interest in Eddie Howe had come to an end. Very quickly many media outlets turned their attention to Postecoglou which seemed to be a complete change in direction from the former Bournemouth boss.
With Peter Lawwell retiring at the end of this month, handing control over to Dom McKay the remainder of June looks like being a bumpy road with six players in the Scotland European Championships squad while behind the scenes the club tries to assemble a management team and squad for next season.
A source close to Celtic has told us Harkin was never officially offered the role.
