The Japanese media has completely blanked speculation linking Ange Postecoglou with Celtic.
Over the last 13 days there has been lots of reports claiming that the boss of Yokohama Marinos was bound for Celtic with claims that deals and compensation had been agreed with the club and their Australian boss.
This morning Yokohama were knocked out of the Emperor Cup on penalties by fourth tier outfit Honda but as far as the local media were concerned links to Celtic aren’t an issue.
Ange Postecoglou on tonight’s result: “We had some players who hadn’t started in 2-3 weeks & I think there were some difficulties that emerged. We weren’t able to play at our usual level.
“We weren’t able to finish our chances & we struggled… Honda’s will to win was stronger.” https://t.co/4UhHIOKfC9

Worth noting that this report, on one of Japan’s most prominent sports dailies, doesn’t have a single mention of Ange possibly going to Celtic. Not a word. Welcome to sports media in Japan.

There has been nothing from Celtic to suggest that Postecoglou is their Plan B after they were turned down by Eddie Howe.
Reports that an application to UEFA for an exemption to their Pro Coaching licence has been as close to confirmation that Celtic are looking at the former manager of the Australian national side.
Celtic’s non-international players return for pre-season training at Lennoxtown a week tomorrow.
