Ange Postecoglou won’t arrive in Glasgow until the weekend meaning that he’ll have to quarantine until June 22 or 23. The players resume pre-season training on July 17.

The latest update comes from The Sun who report a Celtic source dismissing a report from Australian radio station SEN that included Kevin Muscat in the new look Celtic managerial team.

Celtic’s interest in Postecoglou first surfaced on May 28 with a report of advanced talks but at 10 am Wednesday (Celtic Park Time) he is expected to be in charge of Yokohama Marinos in a cup match against Honda.

It is now over 100 days since Neil Lennon resigned as Celtic manager with the clock ticking down towards pre-season training and the first competitive matches of next season on July 20/21 and 27/28.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC are expecting Ange Postecoglou to fly into Glasgow by the weekend. He will have to quarantine for ten days after coming from Japan — but needs to deal with three key issues right away.

The futures of interim manager John Kennedy, plus wantaway top stars Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer require immediate attention.

Reports that the Yokohama Marinos boss will jet into Scotland straight after their Emperor’s Cup game against Honda on Wednesday were dismissed by Celtic sources as premature.

But while compensation and personal terms have been agreed — as revealed by SunSport on Sunday — there remain some practical issues for Postecoglou to smooth over before he jets to Scotland to become Neil Lennon’s shock permanent successor. Celts still hope to be able at least to announce the appointment by Wednesday.

As well as quarantine, Postecoglou has problems to overcome relating to a Work Permit and his lack of a UEFA Pro Licence.

Celtic have three pre-season matches in Wales on July 7, 10 and 14 before their final warm up match at home to Preston North End on July 17.
