Dundee United could be forced into selling Benji Siegrist and Lawrence Shankland during the current transfer window.

Both players have been linked with Celtic in the past but whether they will interest Ange Postecoglou or whoever is in charge of recruitment is another matter.

Goalkeeper Siegrist had an impressive first season in the top flight with two outstanding displays against Celtic at Tannadice catching the eye.

Shankland didn’t quite make the impact expected after prolific seasons in the Championship but there is little doubt that he knows his way in and around the penalty box.

Celtic used three keepers in the season just finished without establishing a first choice while their strikers options could be limited to Albian Ajeti and Vakoun Bayo if the speculation about Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard departing turns out to be true.

The Daily Record reports:

Ipswich Town are considering a £350,000 move for Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist. United’s player of the year is high on the radar of the English League One outfit.

The Swiss keeper is in the final year of his contract and unlikely to sign an extension. New United head coach Tam Courts had said he would like to get Siegrist and Scotland international Lawrence Shankland on deals beyond the end of the new season – but both scenarios look increasingly unlikely.

Celtic may be more likely to turn to the domestic transfer market this summer with David Turnbull proving to be the best of last season’s arrivals.

In the past Celtic have had mixed results in signing players from Dundee United. Stuart Armstrong was a great success but both Gary Mackay-Steven and Nadir Ciftci fell way short of expectations.
